The Ensor Institute brings Ensor's famous work 'The Baths of Ostend' to life in a mobile exhibition titled the 'ENSOR-PEEPSHOW'. A life-sized beach trolley, elaborated by the VTI Oostende, will be paraded to the beach. There, a festive inauguration will take place, welcoming everyone to raise a glass in honour of Ensor. The art department takes the lead in this ambitious project, collaborating with various other departments of the school, including fashion, beauty care, hairdressing, and more. They invite other primary schools in Ostend to work on templates of masks, beach cabins, and similar attributes, joining the parade along the way. Ensor wouldn't be Ensor without a touch of sarcasm and the occasional critical note; prepare for giant masks, binoculars, striped costumes, banners, slogans, and more.
Throughout the year, you can get a behind-the-scenes look through an interactive website developed by the cross-media department. After the parade, a virtual exhibition will be hosted here. During the parade week, the year-end exhibition of the final-year students from the art department will take place.
The Ensor City Festival provides the ideal setting for a unique experience in group. The various exhibitions offer a fascinating insight into the world of James Ensor and his influence on the art world. The options are diverse and are tailor-made each time.
