Kamagurka and Herr Seele join forces once more. In a wildly inventive tribute to Ensor, in around 25 large paintings, objects, and videos, the duo delves into the widely renowned work 'The Entry of Christ into Brussels in 1889'. That canvas displays the procession of a brass band, a carnival, but it's also a genuine conversation starter, as Ensor intended. Kama and Seele aim to blend in with that crowd, the masks, the musicians, the clowns and the freaks, the common man, the washed-up. They intend to depict these people again, create portraits, mixed with crafting fictional heroes, fantastic characters, delving into the surreal world of humour and absurdity. The beautiful Belle Epoque mansion Villa Volta serves as the backdrop.
The Ensor City Festival provides the ideal setting for a unique experience in group. The various exhibitions offer a fascinating insight into the world of James Ensor and his influence on the art world. The options are diverse and are tailor-made each time.
